Meeting the Standards

A Guide to Developing Services for Gifted Students

The guide parallels as much as possible the Recommended Standards for Gifted Education Programs publication. A rationale is included for each major standard as well as for each component within the standard. For each component, a number of suggestions for implementation are provided as possible ways to fulfill that component. In addition, this document follows the Recommended Standards in providing rationales and recommendations for each level of program specified: Minimum, Commendable, and Exemplary. The length of each section dictated that the recommendations for different levels of each major standard be completed before introducing the next major standard. In that way application writers will also be able to focus not only on what they believe they can accomplish at the moment, but develop a vision of what their programs might become in the future.(Copyright 2002 California Association for the Gifted)
