gifted students and gifted teachersgrades 2-8 focusing on differentiating the Common Core, Next Generation Science, and the Visual and Performing Arts Standards. Participants will have opportunities to see differentiated teaching and learning in action.

Featuring a unit of study integrating poetry and the arts and differentiated lessons.Participants will receive curriculum that parallels the lessons observed in the demonstrations. They will have the opportunity to work with faculty members to tailor the lessons to meet their own content areas and grade level.

This one day event will focus on three specific areas of parenting your gifted child:

· ·Social and Emotional: Understanding common traits of gifted children and practical strategies for parenting

· Advocacy in Action: In the classroom, in your school and within the district

· Curriculum and Instruction: Ensuring your child’s work is appropriately challenging and contains depth and complexity

Parents will rotate through sessions in small groups of
20-25, with experienced CAG Board members who are currently GATE parents and/or GATE educators.
There will plenty of time for information and intimate discussions with the CAG Experts and other parents.

The major goal of this conference is for participants to build expertise to understand the nature of gifted students and the teaching/learning strategies that affect them. To achieve this goal, this year’s conference has been organized into three strands: (a) Affective Development, (b) Classroom Practices, and (c) Gifted Polices, Programs and Services for Administrators and Teachers. The sessions within each strand have been selected to reinforce the competencies necessary to build expertise in each strand. It is encouraged that participants organize their conference experience around a major Strand and are welcome to participate in selected sessions in any strand.

New GATE and CCSS Standards is the title of the fourth Strand. This strand will provide participants with newly developed curriculum comprised of differentiated lessons that cross grade levels and subject areas. Participants interested in attending to the strand must: attend the entire Saturday afternoon session with the strand in order to build the expertise to be able to implement the curriculum in their classroom, to become a demonstration site, and to be able to share their knowledge of the curriculum with colleagues both within and outside of their district. Application for this strand attendance must be submitted by February 1st, 2016. Participants for the strand will be notified via email by February 12th, 2016. All applicants for this strand must register for the conference and will be able to attend sessions within the other three strands on Saturday morning and all day Sunday. The strand can facilitate 150 people.
